College of Cash - finding money for college

First the links and then the updates today. Just to switch it up a little!

$52,050.74 a Farewell to Student Loans is a good post you should check out. I can't wait until mine are all paid off!

My Ongoing Struggle with Turning Off the Lights - this post was just kind of funny. I'm very anal about turning off the lights when I leave a room. And turning the water off when I brush my teeth (thanks to a Sesame Street clip when I was about 5! haha!).

Now for the updates:

The Create Your Own Scholarship only has two more days left of submission ideas. It ends Oct. 28th! After that will be voting time! Did anyone submit an idea??

I also want to point out again, the Scholarship Opportunities link under "spotlight posts" as well as Updates to Scholarship Search Sites. (The direct link to those scholarship websites can be found here).

Also, you can subscribe via the "rss 2" link (top left) or you can pick how you want it (like my yahoo, google, etc) through the "subscribe in a reader" link (a little below the other one).

Have a great weekend everyone! Enjoy some hallowe'en parties!

A quick update on survey money I have stashed away so far: $174.55. That's how much I have waiting for me to request to have sent to me. I just did a survey for ACOP, but they send their checks automatically. I think that one was for $7.

I only have one regular link for today. It's "Pay Off Debt at 0% or Beef Up Savings" over at Blogging Away Debt. I like this one, because I'm in the same boat.

But most importantly,

FREE MONEY ALERT! FREE MONEY ALERT!

The first one is an admissionfacts.org scholarship for $750. I happened to get an email about this one through fastweb.com. It ends October 30th. There is no essay required, and you only need a 2.0 G.P.A. This one seems like it happens every month, because to the left there's a picture of the "September winner."

The second one is the scholarship from Monday that you all should definitely check out if you haven't already! I have already entered two ideas, so get yours in!

Have a great weekend!

Notice anything different? Now you can Subscribe in a Reader there on the left! If you do that, you'll never miss anything on this blog. Because I know you would be devastated if you did.

Now for the links this week:

MonsterTrak has an article "Take Control: Financial Advice for Job Seekers" aimed at college students, or recent college graduates. It rehashes a lot of things you may already know, but also has some interesting links at the bottom.

Breaking the Shackles: How to Escape from Minimum Wage at Get Rich Slowly is quite an interesting topic. It's been going around the blogosphere a lot lately. I had to leave my own comment on this one. Too hard not to.

And one just for fun "Treating Marriage As A Business Relationship" at My Money Blog.

Have a good weekend! I know I will - all my midterms will finally be over!

The Friday Links for Oct. 5th

Garage sales on Friday mornings are not a good idea. People have to work on Friday mornings. If my family had asked me this before I came home, I could have told them. Oh well. We're holding it again tomorrow.

On to the links!

Student Loans and Professional Degrees - I think I found this from one of the carnivals. I was surprised they advocated no student loans for undergraduate degrees. That seems very hard to pull off for most people.

Money Quotes - I just thought this was fun. Lot's of amusing quotes here.

Sorry for the small amount of links today. It's been a very busy week and I'm back in my hometown for the last time - gotta pack everything up for the 'rents to move!

Have a great weekend!

Update: As you can see, I've created a blog roll directly on the main page, instead of in a post. Easier to check them out!

The Friday Links for Sept. 28th

It's going to be an awesome weekend. People coming into town! I can't wait.

But right now it's time for the links...

If it's 3am and you're wondering which bill you can put off paying tomorrow is a guest post on advanced personal finance. I liked her parody of the "you might be a redneck" the best! But she has a good point.

If You are Making Car Payments, You Don't Own the Car makes a good argument. I think my brother may need to understand that!

And most importantly.... FREE STUFF!!

Eat free on your birthday! Mine is coming up in two months, so I might register with some of those to get my free food! I love free food!

Unfortunately, ING direct dropped their interest rate two days ago. It's 4.3% now. It doesn't do much to me, since I don't have a lot of money right now, but it is still irritating.

A nice batch of links today almost all college related. Hope you all enjoy!

Examine your motives series: going to college - This article asks you to question your reasons for going to college. I myself was guilty of the “it’s what you do after high school” reason. Fortunately, I found my way and it wasn’t a big waste of money
