College of Cash - finding money for college

Saturday Links for 3/29/08

March 29th 2008 10:33
Once again I had forgotten to submit my posts to the carnivals. But I got some laundry done last weekend when I would have been submitting articles, so at least I was productive!

As for the links...

English Major talks about some of her early money memories. Do you have any? I used to have separate things to keep pennies, nickels and dimes, and then quarters. I always liked to roll my own coins as well.

Paid Twice talks about saving $2000 every year in your 20s and how she wishes she would have kept it up. I wish I could start!

If you weren't here yesterday, I listed some more scholarships. I hadn't done that in a while and figured it was due. If you visit the scholarship opportunities post, you'll also see that I have listed the scholarships in order by when they end.

Enjoy the weekend!

Sorry for the unplanned hiatius. But things should hopefully be back to normal next week.

I participated in a festival and a carnival this week! The Festival of Frugality was at PaidTwice and the Carnival of Money Stories was at Life Lessons of a Military Wife. In the Festival of Frugality I was included with my post "Where are the Good Coupons?" At the Carnival of Money Stories I was included with my post "A Less Depressing Update."

One other post I found really interesting was at English Major Money, entitled "When I Am Grown Up" I can relate to the I know the small things I want to keep me happy, but what job do I want for the rest of my life? No idea.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Once again I forgot to enter any of the personal finance carnivals for this week. But no worries, plenty of other links are to be found in the blogosphere!

English Major writes about what she would do with $2 million. It kind of makes me sick to think about it. I know I'm so far away from paying off debt it just bothers me to think of what I could do with that money.

Not the Jet Set has a sort-of rant on people not learning their lessons about finances and uses a friend's situation as an example.

So Sick of Debt writes about trying to have patience in the debt payoff process. I'm having the same problem. I keep planning... "well next month this, and the next month that" when I haven't even gotten through this month!

There are plenty more articles out there, so check my blogroll on the left! Enjoy the weekend!

I participated in two carnivals this week! The Carnival of Debt Reduction and the Carnival of Money Stories.

The Carnival of Debt Reduction was at NCNblog this week. I was included with my post The Current Debt Reduction Plan.

The Carnival of Money Stories was at Piggybankblues. I was included with my post Sometimes I Hate Shopping.

Thanks to both blogs for hosting and including my posts!

As for other links...

The Financial Engineer asked a friend what she would do with $100,000. She was surprised by the answer, and so was I. Now, I could make that money last about three years or more. I could actually make it last about 10 years if I lived for those 10 years like I do now! But face it, no one will live like I do for 10 years.

Poorer Than You poses the question Grad School or No Grad School? Maybe some of you are in that position right now. If so, you should definitely check out her post!

Blogging Away Debt cashed in some change recently and found out her bank will count change for free. My roommate knew this about her bank and did the same thing last week. She wound up with $40 something! In change! Keep those pennies!

Happy reading and enjoy the weekend!

Somehow I forgot to participate in any of the finance carnivals for the week. I'm not quite sure how that happened, but oh well. I've found plenty of good links this week anyway!

The first one is "Becoming a Marketable English Major" at Mrs. Micah. Of course I like this one because I have a degree in English! haha There is some good stuff in there if you are an English major, and if not, an internship for any major is a good idea.

Poorer than you has an ask the readers post, should she get a bike? And does anyone have good information on what type? Since this is supposed to be a college-themed blog, and she's still in college, I figured a link to her made sense.

Again with the college related thing, I will teach you to be rich tells us that Standford is now basically free. If you're looking at colleges now (or in the near future), check that out.

This next post I just liked because it's fabulously broke in the city's "closet." She's selling some stuff to make money to donate to charity and to pay off some debt. I liked the shoes, but my feet are too big! haha

And finally, what would you do if you knew you couldn't fail? That's a good question and I'm not sure of the answer yet. There are plenty of good comments answering the question at the end of that post, so be sure to check some of them out too.

Enjoy the weekend!

As you all know, I hosted the Carnival of Money Stories this week. But I also participated in the Festival of Frugality at Mighty Bargain Hunter. I was included with my post, "The End Slices."

Anothering interesting post from the Festival was "How to Get Stuff for Free" from not the jet set. I don't know if I would do all of the suggestions, but asking is easy. I've never looked at freecycle, maybe I should start

I mentioned yesterday that Tuesday the Carnival of Money Stories is coming here! Yay!

Anyway, this will be a short links post today, because for some reason I didn't have a lot of time to surf around the net and find some good stuff. And I'm enjoying some time back in my hometown this weekend. But the first link is

I have quite a few links from this week. I'm going to start with the carnivals I participated in; there were two. The first was the Carnival of Personal Finance over at Paid Twice. I was included with my post "My New Grocery Budget" under the running backs section. (It was superbowl week of course!) Second was the Festival of Frugality at Being Frugal. I was included with my post "I Only Buy Clothes with Gift Cards." It's funny, because I was a running back on that "team" too!

As for the other posts from the carinval and the festival that I liked (in no particular order

First off, I participated in the Festival of Frugality this week over at Mrs. Micah's blog. I was included for my post "Putting My Tuition Cards to Good Use."

Other good PF posts this week include Paid Twice's I'm a Cheetah, Not a Gazelle. I think I'd have to fall into her category of cheetah too. At least I think so

I'm doing the update first. I've been meaning to mention it for two weeks I think. I will be hosing the February 19th edition of the Carnival of Money Stories! Yay! I haven't hosted a carnival before, but it should be fun. So be on the lookout for that!

As for the links, there are quite a few good ones this week, but I'm keeping my list to four. The first two I will probably be writing my own extension of next week. Well, actually, one might turn into a regular post if it keeps me on track! So let's get on with it
