Student Loans = My Negative Net Worth

As if you really need a reason to find free money, I’m going to give you one anyway. I just recently decided to figure out exactly how much student loan debt I have. The numbers? $24,431. This includes the interest that has already accrued. Unfortunately, it does not include the $9,000 I will need to take out for my final semester.

Net Worth $-23,180
I’ve calculated my net worth using Networth IQ (mostly I did this for my own amusement), but if you check it out (above), I’m in the negative. I’m worth negative amounts of money! THAT is why I encourage you to find as much scholarship money, and save whatever money you can from working, to be able to afford college. I’m not saying you shouldn’t take out student loans, but it would be best if you only had to take out Federal Stafford loans. If you can avoid any private loans, do it! This is just my own experience talking; I want everyone to have a better experience than I did.
However, never pick a college just because it’s cheaper. I’ve had a better time at Indiana State University (and paying $10K more a year) than I did at University of Cincinnati. Find a place that works for you. It took me two tries, but I did.
If you want to figure out your net worth too, go to www.networthiq.com. It’s amusing, but for me it gives me a visual of my debt and encourages me to make the line start moving up instead of down! Haha!
If you want to check out the specifics of mine go here.
