Net Worth Update for April 2008

April was a fantastic month! It was the first month where I had my full paychecks, so I was able to pay my bills just from money coming in, and not from my savings.

The new number is -$32,283. An increase of $582! Woohoo! I love it when that happens! Check out the chart:

You can actually tell that it went up this time, unlike last time. *Smiles*

What helped me this month? I paid off my car, finally got the third refund check I mentioned (which I paid towards my tuition cards), and paid $41 worth of survey money towards those tuition cards as well.

Yay for a good month. Next month is a three paycheck month, so it should be awesome as well. I can't wait!

Net Worth Update for March 2008

I managed to get another positive month. It's a little pitiful looking, since it's only up by $5 for the month. But up $5 is better than going down. My chart looks like I'm staying the same:

Official number: -$32,865

I still haven't gotten my third refund check yet, that I believe I mentioned last month. That's starting to worry me. Hopefully it comes soon. However, my car is below the $1500 mark which is awesome, and it will actually be paid off in April!! (Originally my plan was May).

I paid an extra $6 to one of my tuition credit cards this month as well. Yay for snowflaking! I also have some news concerning my tuition credit cards, but that will need it's own post.

Hopefully good things keep happening.

Net Worth Update for Feb. 2008

I don't know how it happened. I didn't even think it was mathematically possible. But somehow I managed to make my net worth go up for February instead of down. When I wrote the last one, I was sure February would be down. I wasn't okay with it, but I was resigned to it. Then magically, I'm up by $21. I was so excited when I saw that positive number! Anyway, the official number of my net worth is now -$32,870.

Here's the chart:

I only received one real paycheck from work in February, but I also got a little over $100 in tax refunds. And maybe I got more survey money than I thought and that helped me to pay my bills this month. Because I really have no idea how this up-swing happened. Not that I'm complaining.

I had expected this month to go down by at least $200 and next month to go down by about $100. Only when April came did I expect to start moving upward again. But hopefully I can continue the up trend next month.

This month was really disappointing. I knew that going in, but that doesn't make it any better. I almost didn't even do it this time because I knew it was going to be bad. The results? I'm down $386. The chart looks like:

I guess at least that downward line isn't as depressing as the downward slide a few months before it. I am now at $-32,891. You all know about my job hunt and how I landed one job. Unfortunately, my first paycheck won't come from that until February 8th. And that is only for the orientation hours. My first real paycheck won't come until February 22nd. So next month's update looks like it will be another down month.

If you look at my networthiq page it looks as if I spent a lot of what was in the "cash" column. However, last month's number was so high because of all the cash I had in my checking account that I was saving to pay bills for January. That's where all that money went. My checking account now has a balance of $18. Pretty sad.

Hopefully I find a second job soon!

I'm slightly disappointed with the update this month. It comes from the realization that the site I had been using to check my student loan statuses is not really up-to-date. My net worth did go up by $107, so it's moving in the right direction still. The chart looks like:

The assets are broken down like this: cash went up because of graduation and Christmas. Plus there is a $40 check which is a rebate on my parking pass since I graduated and returned it.

The debts go like this: credit cards didn't go down as much as they should have because of my credit card shuffle that got me a $90 transfer fee. The student loan thing is explained above. The good news is my car loan is now below the $2000 mark!!! Yay!

Now I just have to find a job quickly.

November 2007 Goals

If you look around the blogosphere, whenever there is a net worth update, a list of goals for the coming month follows. I thought this would be a good time to start doing that myself.

1) Net worth increase of more than $121. ($121 is what I had this month, so I would like to beat that). Maybe I should bump that up to $150 – this is my birthday month, so there is sure to be some money involved
