March 2008 Grocery Budget Busted
March 4th 2008 15:47
I've already blown my budget for this month with one trip to the grocery store. Well, right now it's only busted by 10 cents. However, in about two weeks I'll be going back to get milk and bread. So, it'll be even more busted.
I did get lots of good deals though. Kroger was, again, doing a 10/$10 sale. I wrote down all the things I would actually eat from their flyer and decided to buy 20 items that were in the sale. (Like the popcorn shrimp that I bought three of, YUM!)
The problem comes because I had to buy peanut butter, jelly and cheese singles because I ran out of all of those at the same time. The peanut butter was one of the $1 items, but the other two weren't. And who knew cheese was so expensive? haha.
I did buy shredded cheese that wasn't on my list as well. That was another $3 I hadn't planned. But I put back the ice cream I thought about buying, as well as the second box of cereal that I don't really need right now. So that was a good thing.
What's crazy, is I saved $21 and some change with the plus card. Oh, and I bought 53 items for $50. That's kind of cool.
Although, six of those "items" were cadbury creme eggs, my most favorite candy in the world and it only comes around once a year so I had to buy some. But I'm okay with that.
I guess it was a good shopping trip even though I'll be a little over budget for the month. (Maybe the $6 under last time evens out this month??
