Internships

One of the best ways to spend summer break during college is to do an internship. I personally have not done any, (which is going to hurt me when I look for a job since experience will be 'none'), but I have a story about one of my best friends who maximized her potential.
She spent all three summers at internships. I believe the last two were for the same company. This company also offered her a permanent job once she graduated, which is something that will often happen with the company you work for the summer before or during your senior year. However, she also landed her dream job. She makes something like 80k a year there. This is her first year out. That is the power of an internship.
Another similar story can be found here, by One Frugal Girl.
One way to find these would be the career fairs that every school seems to have. Another suggestion is fastweb, that I wrote about in "Scholarship Websites." They have a tab for internships as well when you login to your account.
Some internships are not paid positions, so you may have to look out if those are not something you can afford to do. However, if you find a paid one it just might pay more than whatever part time job you might have had, which is always a plus.
