I Eat a Lot of Sandwiches

I write often about my grocery budget and how it's only $50 a month, and that it's hard to keep under that amount. In that "Hardest Part" post I mentioned buying two loaves a bread. I had meant to write a post on this a while ago, but now is just as good a time as any. Two loaves of bread for one person?? (I assume that's what you're thinking). Yes, it works quite well.
I think it was the end of last month (April) when I bought two loaves of bread at once. It was the second grocery store trip, where I go in only to get bread and milk. (At least, that is what is supposed to happen). I decided to get two loaves of bread and a gallon of milk that time.
Why did I do that? I figured bread is cheap, and eating a lot of sandwiches would be cheap since you'd buy something once, and keep using it. It was working, except that I didn't plan very well and only had peanut butter and jelly and some cheese to make sandwiches with. So I ate a lot of PB&Js and grilled cheeses during April.
This month I got smarter. I bought ham, turkey, salami (it was in the big sale and was only 88 cents! woohoo!), and some more cheese (it was only 88 cents as well!). I think so far this month I've only eaten one PB&J. PB&J is good, but not when you eat it every day for 10 days in a row. Anyway, that was my first trip for the month of May. The second trip I decided I would only get one loaf of bread to use up the rest of the meat. I have other stuff in the freezer and cabinet that I can eat to mix lunches and dinners up a little bit.
My plan is to follow the example of the month of May. Buy two loaves at the beginning, and plenty of meat to change things up, and one loaf the second trip to use up the rest of the meat and to eat other non-sandwich things that I bought for that month.
I can't do the two loaves of bread every two weeks because then I would hate what I'm eating.
