Graduation Parties

It’s hard to save money when you and all your friends graduate at once. There are so many parties to go to, it gets expensive. I am currently having this problem since all of my friends just graduated recently (not me of course!) Since this applies to both high school and college graduations, I thought I’d share some ways to cut down on costs.
1. Set a dollar limit with your friends. Make it something like $10 on each person and not cash. If you are each giving cash, then you all might as well keep it, otherwise, you are just handing a $10 bill back and forth.
2. Decide on no presents for each other. If the parties include the person’s family, it won’t be as obvious that friends are not giving presents.
3. If you want to have a party with just friends, decide to do something fun and not buy each other presents. For example, take a trip to Applebees for happy hour, go to the park and play football, anything that’s cheaper than all of you buying presents for each other.
4. Make gift baskets. If you like to cook or bake, you could make cookies or candy for each of your friends and it wouldn’t cost as much as giving them each a check.
5. Any kind of sentimental gift that doesn’t cost much. An example of this from my own life would be something like a bag of Twizzlers and a Mt. Dew, (my friends and I used to eat/drink this all the time and they would understand what it meant), or a CD mix with songs we all used to sing together (like Spice Girls! Haha!). Another example could be a picture frame with a picture of you and the person.
This may seem somewhat late to others of you, but a few of my friends haven’t had their graduation parties yet, which is what made me think of this in the first place. I hope it helps you!
If anyone else has any suggestions let me know! I’d be happy to add them to the list.
