Found Money on the Ground

What do you do with money you find on the ground? I am definitely one of those people who pick up pennies! I happened to find this question at We’re in Debt and from that found another interesting blog, The Found Money Jar.
The Found Money Jar is intriguing. Each day they list the amount of change found on the ground, as well as bottles and cans collected that can be recycled for change. It made me want to keep track of the money I find instead of just immediately sticking it into a jar.
But after you find it, what do you do with it? It seems FMJ invests the change in the stock market. I am going to deposit the change into an online savings account that I already have set up. This account is actually for my little brothers, a sort of “college fund.” (The found change is not the only money going in there!) They are ages five and three, so I will be able to find plenty of change and make regular contributions by the time they are college age. The change may not be much, but as we college students know, any free money helps!
