College of Cash - finding money for college

Finding Cheaper Tuition

June 29th 2007 14:35
For the students who want to attend a school in a different state than you live, but can't really afford it, the following is a tip for you.

Attend a school that borders your state. Oftentimes they give a "discount" rate for students in what they call "target" counties.

Example:

I live in Ohio. But Eastern Kentucky University offers a discount rate to students from certain counties in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. If you live in the specified areas, tuition is only $4,442 (per semester) instead of $7,691 (per semester) for out of state students. That's over $3,000 you can save. For students in Ohio, this is actually cheaper than going to some of the state schools in state!

These are the kinds of things you should look for when searching for a school.

*For future posts of "College List" I will try to include this type of information if I can find it.
