Fighting the Cable Guy
January 30th 2008 12:31
My roommate and I got cable and internet at the very end of December. We were going to have wireless put on both laptops, but decided to only do one because it was something like $40 each for installation. When we called to cancel the lady had said to just tell the installation guy and he would take it off of our bill. Of course he tells us they'll credit our account on our next bill.
Guess what didn't happen. Exactly, no $40 credit to our bill that came about a week ago. So, my roommate tried to call last Thursday. Wait 30 mintues on hold. No luck. So we got on their website around the same time to "chat" with one of their people. After about a 20 minute wait on there, she tells us they don't do billing questions. By that time it was 5:30 and they were closing. Try again later.
So, Friday morning comes. Roommate is out and stops by the Time Warner place in the store. (Not surprised it's Time Warner, eh?) According to their website, they are supposed to be open at 8:30am. She got there at 9am and guess what. They weren't open. Are we really surprised?
So the plan was to call on Monday again and be on hold forever, first to get our $40 credit and second, to get it lowered even more because right after we got cable they kept sending us information in the mail about a cheaper rate. Plus, we wanted an even LOWER one for all the crap they put us through.
Unfortunately, on Monday, they decided they didn't care that two people had told us we'd get a $40 credit. Basically we're screwed out of our $40.
I hate Time Warner. But I need the internet.
