College of Cash - finding money for college

College List (pt. 8)

August 15th 2007 19:02
In an attempt to be the most helpful site in affording college, I will be doing a continuing piece on specific colleges and universities in the United States and their scholarships/websites. (I will try hitting ones outside of the US at a later time). My brief summary of each will include a link to their financial aid page as well as other information I think may be helpful.

I plan on going in alphabetical order by state, and then in alphabetical order by the colleges in the state. I will be covering Divisions I, II, and III because every student has different needs. Each piece will cover at least one college from each Division.

Division I:

University of Arkansas at Little Rock
University of Arkansas at Little Rock : The Scholarship page can be found by mousing over “Prospective Students” and clicking on “Scholarships” and then clicking “Scholarships" in the left navigation. The financial aid main page can be found here. To the left is Cost of Attendance and Federal Work Study.

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff : Mouse over “Prospective Students” on the left, to get to the main financial aid page . At the bottom of that page, click on the “click here.” That takes you to Student Financial Services which actually has links to things like tuition and employment. However, I cannot find a link for scholarships, not even when I did a search. The search on their site only turned up “scholarships” for those in ROTC programs.

Division II:

Ouachita Baptist University
Ouachita Baptist University : On the front of their home page is a link to the main financial aid page. Institutional scholarships can be found by clicking on “OBU” under Aid Programs on the right. They also have a list of “Private” scholarships . Cost and student employment can be found on the right.

Southern Arkansas University
Southern Arkansas University : From their home page, click on “Admissions." From there, you can see “Paying for School.” Click on “Scholarships” to get to the page where all the scholarships have different links, or click on “financial aid” for their main page. (There is also supposed to be a link for tuition and fees in a PDF format, but when I click on it I just get a blank page. You can try for yourselves if you wish).

Division III:

Apparently there is a team of three colleges known as “Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.” I will try to cover this as best as I can.

For Claremont click on “prospective students” to get to a list that includes “Costs and financial aid.” After clicking on that, the next page will have links to the right that include “College Costs and Payment,” “Types of Financial Aid,” and “Federal Work Study.”

For Harvey Mudd click on “Admission and Financial Aid” at the top of their home page. To the left there is a link for “Costs and Financial Aid.” In the Costs and Aid page, there is a link to HMC merit awards . From that there is also a link on the left to “outside and private scholarships” you should check out.

From Scripps home page, mouse over “Admission” and click on “Financing.” At the bottom, or to the right is a link for “Types of Financial Aid.” The link for costs is also to the right.

Advice from my own personal experience:

** Schedule a campus visit!!

** Send an email to the school and see how quickly and efficiently they respond. This will be an indicator of how they will be once you're there.

If there is a college you don’t think I will get to soon enough that you really would like to know about, leave a comment (or send an email!) with the full name of the college/university along with the location of it and I will put it in the next edition of “College Lists;” (this can include universities outside of the US!) The lists I am following can be found at: wikipedia.

If there is anything else you think I should be including, please let me know!
