College List (pt. 10)
October 3rd 2007 15:46
It's been a while since I've posted one of these. Sorry about that.
In an attempt to be the most helpful site in affording college, I will be doing a continuing piece on specific colleges and universities in the United States and their scholarships/websites. (I will try hitting ones outside of the US at a later time). My brief summary of each will include a link to their financial aid page as well as other information I think may be helpful.
I plan on going in alphabetical order by state, and then in alphabetical order by the colleges in the state. I will be covering Divisions I, II, and III because every student has different needs. Each piece will cover at least one college from each Division.
Division I:
Cal Poly: Financial aid main page can be found using the quicklinks on the homepage. On the left they have a link for “scholarships.” Scroll to the bottom of that page to find links to specific scholarships. The top of the page explains how the scholarships work. Also on the left of the main financial aid page is a link to “federal work study.” This school also has a link “special programs” to the left. Under that subject they have things like “emergency loans.” It might be worth checking out if you need extra assistance. Cost of Attendance can be found to the left as well. Fees and Payment schedules can be found using the quicklinks on the home page.
Cal State Fullerton: Financial aid main page can be found using the quick links on the home page. The different scholarships can be found in the links on the left. Federal Work Study is also to the left. Cost of Attendance can be found to the left near the top.
Division II:
The four different Cal State campuses left are Los Angeles, Monterey Bay, San Bernardino, and Stanislaus.
LA: financial aid main page. Scholarships, Work Study, Cost of Attendance.
MB: financial aid main page. Scholarship links, Work Study, Cost of Education.
SB: financial aid main page. On the left, hold the mouse over “Scholarships.” There are many different links to choose from. The one that says “CSUSB Scholarships” looks like a master list of all different scholarships, but it does not have a specific address, so I can’t link to it. Same goes for Federal Work Study. Cost of attendance can be found here.
S: financial aid main page. Scholarships, Work Study, and tuition costs can be found in the left links on the main page.
Division III:
University of La Verne: The financial aid main page can be found from the quick links drop down menu. They have a link on the left for “outside scholarship opportunities," but I cannot find one for their own scholarships. Student Employment/Work Study can be found here. Tuition and fees can also be found from the quick links menu.

Advice from my own personal experience:
** Schedule a campus visit!!
** Send an email to the school and see how quickly and efficiently they respond. This will be an indicator of how they will be once you're there.
If there is a college you don’t think I will get to soon enough that you really would like to know about, leave a comment (or send an email!) with the full name of the college/university along with the location of it and I will put it in the next edition of “College Lists;” (this can include universities outside of the US!) The lists I am following can be found at: wikipedia.
If there is anything else you think I should be including, please let me know!
