Bad Student Loan
July 18th 2007 16:24
A second post today because I need to update on a post I wrote awhile ago entitled, "A Better Student Loan." I had written that this loan's APR would be less than that of other private student loans. Well, when I went back to check on it for myself some of the numbers seemed different. The Bank of America loan I thought would have only been 6.32%, but now it seems that all the banks are doing LIBOR plus 2.50%. This makes the APR 7.82%. And that is only while you are in college. In repayment the APR jumps even higher, somewhere in the 8-9% range. I can get that just as well from anywhere else.
So my best advice is to use all of your federal loans up, and don't get a private loan. Work your way through school, and you'll be happy you did!
